DR. KELLY ELIZABETH YORK’S ASTROLOGICAL FORECAST FOR SEPTEMBER 2014

Highlights: September brings us back down to earth and, for many of us, back to school. The September sun remains in hardworking Virgo until September 22, when it enters the sign of Libra, bringing beauty and justice into our lives. We will experience the full harvest moon in mystical Pisces on September 8. The new moon this month occurs on September 23 and will be in the sign of harmonious Libra. Mercury enters Libra on September 2, bringing with it clearer communication in our relationships. When Venus enters Virgo on September 6, our love takes on its expression through the enactment of practical gestures. Finally, fiery Mars enters philosophical Sagittarius in the middle of the month, bringing spiritual inspiration into our lives.

Roses

I really enjoy gardening; it’s a passion I shared with my grandmother. Now that my migraine is gone, I’ve been able to spend at least an hour every day in my garden and greenhouse. Sarah’s father, Sam, built my beloved greenhouse, which was Grandma Irene’s dream. Together Grandma and I planted dozens of flowers. I can clearly recall her sitting in her wheelchair in the garden while Rose braided Sarah’s long hair and Sam pieced together the greenhouse’s structure. Grandma would watch Sam eagerly and list all the flowers she was going to raise. We ended up growing them all.

Family

Jeff and Julie have been raving about Jack and Susan. It sounds like they had a wonderful time in Montauk. I’m glad that they have such a good relationship with their father. The photos Julie showed me of them on the beach reminded me of our summer trips to Cape Cod. Jeff and Julie would spend hours constructing the perfect sand castle, while I would run along the water with King by my side. And I loved the warm summer nights enjoying popsicles on the porch with my children.

The Barbeque

I ended up running late to Michelle’s because my oven took longer than expected to preheat. As soon as my butter cookies were cool, I jumped in a cab and headed to the party. Michelle’s kids were visiting their grandparents in Minnesota, and she and Mark seemed relieved to have some time to do as they pleased.

The Recital

I had such fun with Sarah’s parents, Rose and Sam, at Sarah’s recital the other night. Sarah performed Antonin Dvorák’s String Quartet no. 12 in F major (“American”) with a small group of talented musicians. The music was wonderful, and everyone in the audience was entranced. We had a great time even, though the air conditioner couldn’t keep the small venue cool. The heat has been unbearable lately, and thunderstorms have been abundant and unpredictable. We were caught in a downpour while heading to dinner in Soho. Compared with the humidity, however, the rain was refreshing and a pleasant surprise.

Antique Hunting

Before catching the early train to Brooklyn, Michelle and I watched the sunrise and enjoyed some coffee and bagels. I filled her in more on my date with Rick, and she seemed disappointed that there wasn’t any chemistry. She invited me to a barbeque she and Mark are throwing on their spacious patio. It’s been a while since I’ve attended a party; most of my encounters in the past couple of weeks have been in small group settings. As a Pisces, I’m skilled at adapting to my changing environment, and I promised Michelle I’d bake something special.

Summer Jobs

Jack and I have always encouraged Jeff and Julie to work hard and learn the true value of a dollar. We have always agreed on this matter. Jeff was a busy football player in high school, but he walked dogs in his spare time for extra cash. Like her brother, Julie was athletic, and she spent most of her time at swim practice. But that did not stop her from babysitting on the weekends.

Blind Date

Rick and I met in front of my brownstone and shared a cab to an Italian restaurant as old as Little Italy. Dinner was delicious; we split a gourmet pizza covered with artichoke hearts. Rick was truly a gentleman, kind and loaded with questions. His interest in me was immediately apparent. When I caught him staring at my Pisces necklace, I inquired about his astrological knowledge. Unlike most men I meet, Rick is interested and knowledgeable. He even knows his moon sign, Aries, and his ascendant rising sign, Gemini. I was impressed. He insisted we order the decadent tiramisu for dessert, which we finished completely. I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation over dinner.

Relationships

Ever since I agreed to a dinner date with Dr. Rick, the Scorpio from Baltimore, I’ve had compatibility on my mind. Besides Michelle, the stars and zodiac are my matchmakers. I trust in astrological compatibility because of its predetermined accuracy. Of course, exceptions occur due to nurture, but we shouldn’t deny inherent personality traits.

The Bike Ride

I had an interesting encounter. I’d spent most of the day outside while Jeff and Julie were stuck in front of their computers. Emma and I walked King for several long blocks. Emma and King were tired when we got back to the brownstone, but I felt a sudden burst of energy. Without giving it much thought, I pulled my old bicycle from its home in the garage and decided to take it for a spin. I rode toward downtown, through Lennox Hill and Midtown, looping through Central Park and ending up on the Upper West Side. Before I could even fathom the thought of seeing my ex-husband, there he was, sitting at a café with a young woman who is maybe five years older than Julie.
