Highlights: September brings us back down to earth and, for many of us, back to school. The September sun remains in hardworking Virgo until September 22, when it enters the sign of Libra, bringing beauty and justice into our lives. We will experience the full harvest moon in mystical Pisces on September 8. The new moon this month occurs on September 23 and will be in the sign of harmonious Libra. Mercury enters Libra on September 2, bringing with it clearer communication in our relationships. When Venus enters Virgo on September 6, our love takes on its expression through the enactment of practical gestures. Finally, fiery Mars enters philosophical Sagittarius in the middle of the month, bringing spiritual inspiration into our lives.

For you Virgos, the first three weeks of this month encourage your natural positive tendencies to be analytical, observant, and helpful. On the other hand, a word of warning to Virgos is to be especially cautious about acting out some of your negative expressions such as skepticism, inflexibility, and overanalyzing. For the rest of us, this should be a period for straight thinking and getting goals accomplished through a nose-to-the-grindstone approach. Procrastination can all but be eliminated through Virgo’s propensity for accomplishing each task on the to-do list.

The full Pisces moon makes an early appearance in the month on September 8. This is a special supermoon, as well as a harvest moon. Supermoons occur when the full moon coincides with the moon’s closest approach to the earth. The next supermoon will not occur until 2015. The harvest moon occurs as we are busy with harvesting chores. In many ways, we are also harvesting all that we have sown this year through our deeds and actions. Because this moon is in Pisces, we can experience a breakthrough in higher consciousness. Pisces takes us beyond the boundaries of time and space reality and throws us into the dimension of magical happenings. Be sure to take time out for a spectacular viewing of this exceptional moon the second Monday night of this month. You can be sure it will be a spiritual experience.

On September 22, when the sun leaves the sign of Virgo and enters diplomatic Libra, the unrelenting work ethic of Virgo is replaced by a more easygoing mood. For you Libras, this autumn sun will embellish your peaceful, idealistic natures. You will feel more attractive and deserving of the admiration of others. Also, we all will experience the autumnal equinox on this date. The term equinox means equal night. As the temperatures begin to drop and the days get shorter than the nights, the Libra sun imbues all of our lives with a feeling of peaceful harmony. Socialization becomes the emphasis of the time.

On the very next night of September 23, a new moon in Libra can be seen in the sky, which will further emphasize the characteristics of Libran attributes in our lives. Partnerships and groups call for our participation. A newfound love of luxury and artistic beauty will reign for a whole month under this new moon. We may even break out of our cocoons and turn into social butterflies.

At the beginning of the month on September 2, Mercury will leave Virgo and enter Libra, further emphasizing positive Libran qualities. Mercury excels in communication, and so our ability to get along with others through understanding will thrive. Peace talks in troubled nations may finally be on the horizon.

On September 6, Venus travels into Virgo. Now we all can express our love through more practical means. Perhaps running errands or doing detail work for another may rule the day. The entertainment experiences that we may pursue will need to make sense or have a purpose. We might even feel guilty if we are too self-indulgent. Rendering services to others will be highlighted with Venus in the sign of Virgo.

When Mars enters Sagittarius on September 14, there could be a shift in our point of view on various matters. Mars feels right at home in the sign of Sagittarius because it is a fire sign. Mars in Sagittarius demonstrates his energy by accessing belief systems through higher learning. Spiritual inspiration or transformation may result. It’s important for all of us to open our hearts to reevaluating our belief systems.

Until next month, remember one KEY to making the unconscious conscious is to face life’s twists and turns through the wisdom of astrology. Carl Jung warned, “Until you make the unconscious conscious it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”
