A Very Busy Week

The past few days have been incredibly busy. My Internet was out for almost 24 hours, so I was unable to submit my column on time. Sarah spent almost an entire day on the phone with the service provider, while I raced to a coffee shop down the street to send my column to Luminary World—a little past deadline.

Some Background on Meow and King

Jeff and Julie are staying with my ex-husband, Jack, on the Upper East Side for a few days. The brownstone is quiet but not without the occasional thump of King’s water bowl or Meow’s impressive leaps from sofa to sofa. During her last visit, one of my favorite clients, Rachel, brought a large peacock feather for Meow and a squeaky rubber banana for King. They were both ecstatic to receive these gifts. I haven’t seen King so excited over a new toy since he was a puppy. Meow, too, seemed younger and more nimble as she wrestled with the feather. I couldn’t help but be reminded of how many years have gone by.

Thoughts on Personal Relationships

The other day I was so swamped with clients that I ended up finishing my final session around 7 o’clock. Sarah was a huge help, as usual. Although the phone kept ringing, I insisted that she was done for the day. I sent her home around 5 o’clock to enjoy what was left of the warm Manhattan evening. The weather has been unpredictable as always, but this particular afternoon was remarkably mild, and I know how much Sarah loves taking long walks. This afternoon was too perfect to let her pass up.

The Influence of Carl Jung

I woke up the other night from a  vivid dream to find Meow perched on my head and King whimpering to be let out. I dreamed that I was swimming in a large pool of water. Suddenly, the water began to turn gray, dark. Out of the blue, the sky began to rain down pages filled with words, clearly torn out of books. As soon as the pages hit the water, the water turned to dust and I awoke.

A Picnic and a Concert

Jeff is out on a date. Earlier, he, Julie, and I spent the afternoon picnicking in Central Park. King was thrilled to be out on the town. Emma and I take him on long walks every now and then, but a picnic in Central Park was special. I was transported to another time—when the kids were younger and King was only a pup. We spent hours riding our bikes or playing catch—no matter the activity, we always had a great time.

Subway Ride to Bushwick

It’s so nice to have Jeff home again. The other day, I found myself smiling as I watched him play ball with King in the backyard. Jeff’s lean former-football-star physique and King’s grand white coat and glowing blue eyes against the gray NYC afternoon are quite a sight. Last weekend, Julie insisted we take the…

Full Moon and Moon Pies

My housekeeper and dear friend, Emma; my daughter, Julie; and I have been busy bees in the kitchen. My apron is covered in flour, there’s onion juice in my eyes, my feet are swollen, my knuckles are bruised, my leather ballet flats appear to be ruined and there is likely chocolate swirled into my blond curls, but I simply couldn’t care less. My son, Jeff, will soon be home for the summer!

My Natal Chart

I had a lovely weekend. After a long afternoon basking in the sunshine with my dear friend Michelle, I stopped by a new café on 3rd Avenue and grazed on a salad of butter lettuce and chickpeas. As I passed the front counter on my way out, I couldn’t resist the last apricot Danish staring at me from behind the glass. Love at first bite. There is nothing like eating and walking simultaneously. It is as grotesque as it is magical. I finished my Danish before I reached the door to my brownstone and could hear the impatient howl and the discernable pawing at the wooden door frame. I always love being welcomed home by my two favorite creatures.

Below is a description of my natal chart, as promised in my last post. Enjoy!
